The 2013 Schoolhouse Photo Gallery project has come together beautifully. Thank you members and friends for your contributions. We have twelve historical photos now framed and matted, which will be galleried in the Schoolhouse entryway sometime this January. The project committee, Sheron Laney, Marion Light, Chuck Cleland and Donalee Vermeesch have done an outstanding job in stretching our investment and choosing photos and memorabilia which represent the Schoolhouse well. Also a special thanks to the Picture This frame shop in Charlevoix.
The Inventory, Curation and Acquisition project got off to a strong start this fall. The Schoolhouse basement has been cleaned and much prep work has been completed by the committee of Cathy Benson, Sandy Miles, Marion Light, and Chuck and Nancy Cleland.
Thank you to members of Norwood Area Historical Society and the Norwood Methodist Church who volunteered goods and effort toward making the Hunters’ Lunch a success. We hoped for a better turnout, but suspect that since it was such fine weather, the hunters stayed out in the woods tracking their quarry. Nonetheless, we made a net profit of $592.00 to be split between both organizations.
Our first-ever History Movie Night was successful and those present enjoyed themselves at our showing of The Spoilers, a John Wayne adaptation of local author Rex Beach’s early 20th century novel. The society popped popcorn in an old fashioned machine and provided lemonade during intermission. We plan to continue this new tradition for 2014. Please join us in September and help celebrate and have fun.
